Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 2026 · Urbyte Pty Ltd, ACN 692 885 019
These terms govern your use of the Urbyte platform and any subscription services. By signing up or subscribing, you agree to these terms. If you have questions, contact us at information@urbyte.com.au.
1. Founding Member Subscriptions
- Founding Member subscriptions are offered at three tiers: Bronze ($5/month), Silver ($15/month), and Gold ($29/month).
- Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise Urbyte to charge your nominated payment method on a recurring monthly basis.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused days within a billing cycle.
- Founding Member status, bonus DBUs, and locked-in tier rates apply for the life of your active subscription. If you cancel and later re-subscribe, standard rates at the time of re-subscription will apply.
- Urbyte reserves the right to modify subscription pricing with at least 30 days written notice to active subscribers. Locked-in Founding Member rates are exempt from general pricing changes while your subscription remains active and uninterrupted.
2. DBUs (Data Backed Units)
- DBUs are rewards credits issued by Urbyte. They are not currency, financial products, securities, or investments. They carry no guaranteed monetary value and cannot be exchanged directly for cash.
- DBUs may be redeemed for rewards, gift cards, or directed to charitable causes, subject to available redemption options at the time of redemption.
- Bonus DBUs granted on signup are credited to your wallet immediately upon confirmation of payment.
- Data-backed DBU conversions (derived from your unused mobile data) unlock for redemption after 3 completed billing cycles. This verification period ensures your DBU balance accurately reflects your actual unused data.
- Urbyte reserves the right to adjust DBU redemption options and available reward partners with 30 days written notice to active subscribers.
- DBUs do not expire while your subscription remains active. Upon cancellation, accrued DBUs remain in your wallet but future monthly bonuses will cease.
- Urbyte does not guarantee the continued availability of any specific reward, gift card, or redemption partner.
3. Data Conversion
- To earn data-backed DBUs, you must submit your monthly telco bill to Urbyte for verification. Urbyte calculates unused data based on the figures shown on your bill.
- Urbyte only reads data usage figures from your bill. We do not access your calls, messages, browsing history, or personal communications.
- You are responsible for ensuring the bills you submit are accurate and belong to you. Submitting fraudulent or altered bills may result in account suspension.
- Urbyte does not guarantee a minimum DBU earning per cycle. Earnings depend entirely on your actual unused data each billing period.
- If you are on a prepaid plan and use all your data before the end of a cycle, no data-backed DBUs will be earned for that period.
4. Privacy
- Your personal information is collected and handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and our Privacy Policy.
- We will never sell your personal data to third parties.
- By submitting your telco bill, you consent to Urbyte processing the data usage information contained within it for the purpose of DBU calculation.
5. Charitable Giving
- Urbyte's charitable giving program is aspirational. We are actively working to establish formal partnerships with Australian charities focused on mental health, homelessness, and domestic violence support.
- Until formal partnerships are confirmed and published on our website, DBUs cannot be directed to charitable causes. Urbyte will notify all subscribers when this feature becomes available.
- Urbyte does not represent itself as a charity or social enterprise for taxation purposes.
6. Platform Availability & Changes
- Urbyte is currently in beta. Features, pricing, and redemption options may change as the platform develops.
- We will provide at least 30 days notice of any material changes to subscription pricing or DBU redemption conditions to active subscribers.
- Urbyte reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the platform.
- We will make reasonable efforts to maintain platform availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
7. Limitation of Liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Urbyte's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the total amount you paid to Urbyte in the 3 months preceding the claim.
- Urbyte is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of data or loss of earnings.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
